The Patient Care Foundations course provides students with an introduction to the foundations of patient care in a variety of healthcare settings. Students will learn the roles and responsibilities of various members of the healthcare team and how to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other providers. Topics include healthcare ethics and legal standards, safety practices, infection control, and emergency response. Students will gain knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, patient-centered care and be prepared to function as part of an interdisciplinary team. (4.0 credits, no prerequisites)
