The Pharmacology Fundamentals are designed
to provide students with foundational knowledge in pharmacology essential for safe and
effective medication management. Students will gain an understanding of medical terminology,
gain a deep understanding of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and explore the classifications and actions of medications. The course also covers the regulatory aspects of controlled substances, Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS), and the roles of pharmacy technicians in promoting patient safety. Additionally, students will become proficient in
the use of drug references, pronunciation of medication names, and the handling of over-the-counter (OTC) medications, herbal products, and dietary supplements.
